Restaurant Review | Sosharu

As a huge Jason Atherton fan I was eager to tick Sosharu of the bucket list – and so glad to say it did not disappoint! Whilst a little off the beaten track out by Farringdon, there’s’ some great bars nearby to grab a drink before hand. I headed to Oriole, an absolute winner from the guys who setup Nightjar. Their innovation is out of this world, and this speakeasy was the perfect way to start the evening. But now for the real deal — from the service, to the incredibly Japanese electronic toilets (you’ll be tempted to spend a fair share of your dining time down in the loos!!) there really was nothing to fault about this place, but head there for a special treat, it’s worth it.

Sosharu: Innovative Japanese small plates by the King of all things delicious – Jason Atherton.

Do Not Miss Dishes

Quite honestly, as with all Jason Atherton restaurants there’s very few dishes on the menu that won’t catch your eye, so suggesting just 3 is pretty tricky — but I’ll give it my best shot!
1. Salmon Sashimi (Sake)
2. Asian Pear & Avocado Salad, Tofu Dressing, Cucumber & Apple Jelly.
3. Smoked Octopus, Seaweed Salad. Japanese Cucumber & Yuzu.

Do Not Miss Drinks

I didn’t make it to the 7 Tales bar below the restaurant — but I’ve heard nothing but good things. However, there were more than enough delicious cocktails to spice up the meal!
1. Datsusoku – Abosolut Elyx, Martini Ambrato, Orange Bitters & Tonic
2. Seijaku – Gin, Sakura Cordial & Juniper
3. Rhubarb & Grapefruit Lemonade

Okay so anything with Atherton’s name on it comes at a cost, but it won’t complete break the bank. All plates are small plates and range in price, starting at around £7 and heading up to £28 (worth it for the Wagyu). Drinks are on par with London prices, with all signature cocktails coming in at the £10 mark.
